Questions or problems which occur when studying can often be solved with in discussion with the SZS or the counselling centres at KIT.
The SZS staff support, inform or give advice for students and lecturers at KIT on the following topics:
Appropriate working techniques and tools
- Individual modification of software and hardware
- Improving individual working techniques
Providing literature and written exams
- Literature transfer of teaching material (exercise sheets, scripts etc.)
- Accessibility of material (graphics, diagrams etc.)
- Optimisation of agreements between teaching staff and students
- Organisation and execution of exams
It is a distinctive feature that the SZS and the eauftragte Representative for Students with Disabilities and Chronic Diseas für Studierende mit Behinderung und chronischer Krankheit jointly support the students when applying for the compensation of disadvantages in studies and exams. This reduces the organisational effort for each student.
Students with visual impairment write their exams at the premises of the SZS while being allowed extra time and with the help of individually modified modern aids.
This requires a close cooperation between the examiner and only works with the active involvement of the student.
Networking and contacts
- Meeting for KIT students with visual impairment
- Mobility on the Campus
- International mobility (studying abroad)
- Contact to companies for internships and Master thesis
- Disabled rights organisations and self-help groups
For KIT-internal help the SZS is in contact with the faculties and other counselling services so that students can get information and advice on all different kinds of questions in all stages of their studies.
